Child dies after being struck by commuter bus on dangerous jersey city road

A child was tragically killed after being struck by a bus on a road in Jersey City, NJ.The fatal bus accident occurred a short time before 8:30 a.m. on Kennedy

Boulevard in Jersey City, New Jersey. The victim was an 11-year-old boy who actually resided Kennedy Boulevard. He was in the process of walking across the road at the intersection with Neptune Avenue when a commuter bus hit him.

Afterwards, the bus stopped and numerous people dialed 911 to call for help from local law enforcement. An ambulance quickly arrived at the scene and transported the victim to the emergency room at Jersey City Medical Center. The victim underwent emergency surgery at the hospital and was later listed in extremely critical condition. Tragically, the victim passed away as a result of his accident-related injuries a few hours after arriving at the medical facility.

A member of the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office later said that Kennedy Boulevard is one of the busiest and most dangerous roads in Hudson County and possibly even in the entire state – and this is especially true for pedestrians attempting to walk across the street. According to data compiled by the sheriff’s office, 844 pedestrians were injured after being hit by cars while walking on Kennedy Boulevard between 2004 and 2014.

Authorities are currently investigating the bus accident and trying to determine exactly what may have precipitated the fatal crash. A family member of the victim spoke with the media and said that the bus was attempting to move past a double-parked truck when it slammed into the boy. Depending on the results of the investigation, it is possible that legal action could be forthcoming on behalf of the victim and/or his family members.
