Much-needed protections introduced for healthcare and social services workers

May 11, 2015

Most of us are able to just go to work and not worry about being assaulted. Some of us, however, aren’t so lucky. In 2013, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported 23,000 work-related assaults, 70 percent of which occurred within the healthcare and social service industries. These workers are at a much higher risk for assault by the populations they serve, which is why the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has updated its guidelines to give these professionals more workplace protections. The guidelines are meant to focus on creating safer work environments. The updates take aim at examining…

Workers’ comp claim denied? team law will fight for your rights

May 4, 2015

When there is an accident in the workplace and someone gets hurt, the first course of action – right after tending to the medical emergency – is to file for Workers’ Compensation benefits. In most cases in New Jersey, you will not be able to sue your employer, but you can take advantage of government-mandated Workers’ Comp insurance your employer must carry for you and other workers. Protests stemmed from the inconvenience…

Further, if you work at a construction site or other fairly dangerous workplace, you head to the job each morning aware that safety is an important part of your day. Hopefully, your employer makes sure there is working safety equipment nearby and that any site violations that may cause injury to workers are cleared up as soon as they become apparent. However, no matter how careful…

How to avoid construction site accidents and injuries

April 29, 2014

As the weather warms up around the country, construction projects will begin to pop up all over, and with that comes an increased threat of injuries. Working on a construction site is one of the most dangerous occupations in the country, with thousands of injuries every year, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The fatal injury rate for the construction industry is higher than the national average and it’s because of the inherent nature of the business. Construction workers are in danger of falls, trench and scaffolding collapses, electrocution, repetitive motion injuries and caught…
