The deadly accident on the New Jersey Turnpike that critically injured comedian Tracy Morgan and killed his colleague and friend, comic James “Jimmy Mack” McNair on June 7, 2014, has been blamed on speed. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) revealed in a report that the accident between the Wal-Mart tractor trailer truck and Morgan’s limo van was caused by the truck driver’s failure to slow down after driving into a reduced speed construction zone. He was driving the truck at 65 miles per hour. The usual posted speed limit on that stretch of the NJ Turnpike is 55 mph.
