A child was tragically killed after being struck by a bus on a road in Jersey City, NJ.The fatal bus accident occurred a short time before 8:30 a.m. on Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City, New Jersey. The victim was an 11-year-old boy who actually resided Kennedy Boulevard. He was in the process of walking across the road at the intersection with Neptune Avenue when a commuter bus hit him. Two people were tragically killed in a pedestrian accident on a Bridgewater NJ highway in September 2016, but authorities have yet to charge the driver in connection with the fatal crash. The tragic auto accident occurred on Route 22 in Bridgewater around 3:15 a.m. According to law enforcement officials, the pedestrians were in the process of crossing the highway when a 2004 Toyota Sienna crashed into them. A head-on collision on a roadway in Plainsboro NJ resulted in significant physical injuries to one of the motorists. The car accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Scudders Mill Road, near the Bristol-Meyers Squibb campus in Plainsboro, New Jersey. A 49-year-old local woman was driving her vehicle when she suddenly lost control and swerved across a grassy median and into oncoming traffic. The car eventually collided with another motor vehicle, resulting in one of the cars being thrown off the road and overturning in a nearby field. A young child died after being struck by a car on a roadway in Plainfield, New Jersey. The fatal accident occurred around 9:00 a.m. at the intersection of Park Avenue and West Second Street in Plainfield NJ and just one block away from the Plainfield train station. The victim, a three-year-old girl, was being led across the street in a stroller by her mother when a red Toyota Camry sedan crashed into both of them. A nonprofit auto safety organization is asking the federal government to follow up on its earlier recall of certain older-model Jeep SUVs because the vehicles are reportedly still causing wrongful deaths on U.S. roadways. The Jeeps, which include 1993-1998 Grand Cherokees and 2002-2007 Liberty SUVs, reportedly have plastic gas tanks that are prone to ruptures, spills and potentially deadly explosions. A major auto recall was recently issued due to the presence of defective airbags in the vehicles. The car manufacturing companies affected by the recall include Fiat Chrysler, Honda and Mercedes-Benz. Vehicles manufactured by these companies contained airbag control units supplied by Continental Automotive Systems. The investigation began in August 2015 after the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) received a complaint about the airbags in a 2008 Honda Accord failing to deploy during a car accident. Fiat Chrysler was recently fined tens of millions of dollars for negligence in failing to provide data about serious injuries and deaths caused by its vehicles. Last year, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, one of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world, was hit with a total of $175 million in fines for safety deficiencies. In July 2015, Fiat Chrysler was ordered to pay more than $100 million in fines for mishandling vehicle recalls. The truck driver who allegedly caused the accident that killed one person and seriously injured famed comedian Tracy Morgan in 2014 has been indicted by a New Jersey grand jury. On June 7, 2014, Kevin Roper was reportedly exhausted while driving a Wal-Mart truck on the New Jersey Turnpike. According to authorities, Roper had been awake for 28 hours, a violation of federal laws and safety regulations, when he crashed into a limousine carrying Morgan and others. As a result of the truck accident, the 47-year-old Morgan suffered life-threatening injuries, including a traumatic brain injury and multiple broken bones.

New Jersey has the highest auto insurance rates in the nation, according to a report by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). The NAIC is a regulatory support organization that was created by chief insurance regulators from all 50 US states.
